The Adaptive Nature of EarlyBird

Learn what the term "adaptive" means and how it impacts our assessment.

In order to best determine a student's ability within any skill set, EarlyBird utilizes an "adaptive" approach during assessment. Simply put, this means we are tailoring the test items a student sees during the assessment based on the way the student answers on prior items. 

The First Five

During each individual subtest, every student will first be assessed on the same first five items (in a randomized order). Based on how the student answers the first five items, our EarlyBird assessment adapts and might provide additional items so we can best determine the student's skill level in each subtest. This means that not every student will see the same items during an individual subtest, nor the same number of items.
